Method to make Oats-Moong Dal Tikki:
For Preparation of Dough:
- Take ½-1 Cup yellow moong dal and clean and wash it properly.
- Take a deep pan and add the washed moong dal and 1 cup of water to it. Boil the dal till it’s cooked and all the water is removed from boiling. Avoid overcooking the dal.
- Once it’s cooked, drain the dal properly using a sieve. Remove as much water as possible to avoid making it into a paste; else, the tikkis won’t be formed, and we won’t get that coarse, crunchy texture.
- After removing the water, blend the moong dal in a mixer jar till it forms a coarse paste.
- Once it’s formed, transfer the paste to a bowl.
- Then, add ½ cup rolled oats, 2 Tbsp fresh curd, and 3 Tbsp grated onions. You can also add other vegetables present in your kitchen, like capsicum, cabbage, or boiled corn.
- To add a tinge of spice, add some chopped green chilies as you want.
- Add 2 Tbsp of Genie Food Chaat Masala for some chatpata flavor.
- Add 2 Tbsp Chilli powder, ¼ Tbsp Garam Masala, ¼ Tbsp Genie Food Organic Turmeric Powder, and 1 Tbsp of Genie Food Ginger-Garlic Paste.
- Add freshly chopped coriander and salt to taste.
- Mix everything well to form a soft dough for Moong Dal Tikki.
How to make Oats Moong Dal Tikki:
- Now divide the dough into 12-14 small tikkis of 1 ½ or 2 inches.
- Grease a non-stick Tawa(griddle) lightly with ½ Tbsp peanut oil.
- Now one by one, place tikkis on the griddle carefully.
- Cook the tikkis from both sides properly by adding some peanut oil. Cook until they are golden brown.
- Once cooked, transfer them to a plate. Enjoy this healthy and crunchy dish with some green chutney or ketchup.
Tips for Moong Dal Oats Tikki:
- It is advised not to use sprouted moong dal as it may not help the dough to form into tikkis.
- Make sure the dal is not overboiled, as it needs a coarse paste. If it turns into a runny or smooth paste, we cannot form Tikki.
